A recent Picasso inspired cubism works made with oil paint, acrylic and chalk. I made this painting in a sort of experimentation.
A few years back at a Gallery opening in New York City, a fellow artist mentioned to me about applying acrylic and oil paint on the same canvas. It was an interesting concept.
In this work I started off with acrylic black lines, which is pretty usual for me. Then I used chalk as a rub for texture and a few scribbles with oil pastels. This is to set an underlying tone. I used cadmium red, orange and yellow to paint the cubism figure. The background I painted with cerulean and white mix with a broad brush. Lastly , I used a palette knife to make circular patterns over the wet paint.
